I’m going to be honest with you. When my daughter was born she was not a cuddly baby. I would watch other new moms with their babies. They looked so peaceful and snuggly. That wasn’t the case with us. Our baby was squirmy and perpetually uncomfortable. At two months old we had her diagnosed and treated for acid reflux and things began to change. Finally my little squirmer could relax and give in to the cuddles.
Now I have a three year old who is the most affectionate little kid I know. She loves to cuddle and hold hands and man can that girl give a good hug! Hugs are an essential part of our day. We hand them out when we get up in the morning, when I leave her at daycare and it’s the first thing I get when I return home at the end of the day. Hugs are the best. A hug can completely change my day.
Hugs can do so much. Have you ever had a moment when you didn’t know quite what to say to someone who was struggling so you just have them a heart felt hug? Words can be hard. Hugs are easy. They say so much without having to actually say a thing.
Big Hugs Elmo
We recently made a new friend – Big Hugs Elmo. I think it’s safe to say that just about everyone knows and loves Elmo. You know that adorable, fuzzy, red little monster? What’s not to love? Elmo has been winning over the hearts of kids and parents forever. So just imagine all that cuteness in an Elmo toy that can actually hug! Yes that’s right. The new Big Hugs Elmo not only loves getting hugs but loves to give them back!
And I have to tell you Elmo gives a great hug! The other night I was playing with Elmo, exploring all of his awesome features. After a couple of big embraces with Elmo my husband commented that he was starting to get a little jealous…
Molly’s first Elmo hug:
And the interaction doesn’t stop there. Elmo will let you know if he wants a tighter hug or if he thinks you are hugging him a little too tight he will remind you to be gentle. Elmo also loves to sign and play games. My daughter LOVES the imagination games that Elmo plays with her. When he suggests they pretend to be a horse she prances around the house with Elmo in tow yelling “giddyup” and “Gallop, mommy, gallop!” And when you lay Elmo down he sings a sweet lullaby and drifts off to sleep with some adorable little snoring sounds. Be sure to visit the Hasbro website to learn more about all of the cool things Big Hugs Elmo does!
And you don’t have to take my word on how awesome Big Hugs Elmo is! He’s also be given the PTPA Award, which means he’s been given a big thumbs up from more parents just like you and I!
