Seven ways to celebrate Earth Day and a Giveaway from Live Clean #EarthDay

Happy Earth Day to You! It just so happens to also be my birthday today, although Earth Day is just slightly older than me (because no I am not older than dirt!). Earth Day began in 1970 when 20 million Americans launched rallies across the US to demonstrate for a healthy, sustainable environment. Today Earth Day is a recognized around the globe by hundreds of millions of people! Are you doing anything special to celebrate Earth Day this year? Need some ideas? Here are a few ways you can celebrate the earth today (or any day):

1. Leave the car at home

Unless you absolutely need to, try not taking your car out today. Walk, cycle, even public transit. Will one day of not driving make a difference to the word? Honestly, I’m not sure but it might make a difference to YOU and maybe to your kids. It might get you motivated and thinking about times that you drive that maybe you don’t really need to.

2. Plant something

If you can, plant something today. A tree, a flower, some herbs. Not only is it good for the earth it’s good for the soul! Even if you don’t have a yard, there are plenty of things you can grow indoors and it’s an awesome activity to do with kids!

3. Clean up

Get outside and get cleaning! I bet you wouldn’t have to go to far outside your own front door to find litter lying around. Put on some gloves, grab a garbage bag and go pick up some things. Every little bit helps!

4. Turn out the lights

No I’m not suggesting you have to do everything by candle light. But take a look around your home right now. How many lights are on? Are they all necessary? I literally just looked up and did this very thing and realized there was at least one light (with three bulbs) that doesn’t need to be on. Again, this is one of those things that you can start doing today that you can carry forward every day!

5. Take a shorter shower

Do you love to indulge in a long hot shower? I don’t blame you. There’s nothing better (well except maybe a bubble bath) after a long stressful day. But today maybe make a point of setting a timer for 5 minutes and when it goes off so does the shower. If you happen to have a low flow shower head then reward yourself with an extra couple of minutes.

6. Get outside

If you can, just get outside. Go for a walk. Take the kids to the park. Do some work in your back yard. Just get out and appreciate nature as best you can.

7. Shop smarter

There are so many small things we can do to decrease our stress on the environment as consumers. Ditching throw away shopping bags for reusable ones, choosing produce that isn’t over packaged, and looking for products that are easier on the environment.

One of my favorite earth friendly brands is Live Clean. If you are already familiar with Live Clean you probably know that they have always cared about our environment. In fact that’s what they are all about – bringing you earth friendly beauty and personal care products that not just work but that you love. Every Live Clean product delivers exceptional results using plant and natural based ingredients. We’ve been using Live Clean products for a while now in our home and we really do love them. Not only are they eco friendly but they are luxurious! And they work, which is something I don’t always find to be true when searching out earth friendly products.  I also love that they are made in Canada.

Live Clean has a huge line of amazing products from hair care to baby care and I can’t possibly touch on all of them in this post but I will highlight a few.

Lavender Vanilla Aromatherapy Foam Bath

Live Clean Foam Bath

Even though I’ve been using Live Clean products for years I had no idea this foam bath even existed. So I was really excited to discover it! I love my bubble baths so much (and no I don’t fill the tub!). This luxurious foam bath is 98% plant derived, with lavender, vanilla, bergamot, ylang ylang, jasmine and chamomile. It also smells great with out being over powering.

Mineral Clay Rebalancing Shampoo and Conditioner

I regularly use several of the hair care products from Live Clean but I haven’t yet tried the Mineral Clay shampoo and conditioner (although I am looking forward to it). The Mineral rich shampoo perfectly cleanses oily roots and hydrates ends while the conditioner leaves hair gorgeously fresh and flowing. The secret: three mineral clays – Kaolin, Montmorillonite, and Bentonite plus organic botanicals of Apple Cider, Witch Hazel, Tea Tree and Green Tea.

Live Clean Baby

My introduction to Live Clean was actually with their baby products. When I went out searching for gentle, yet effective, products to use on my daughter and found a line that was also eco friendly I was all over it!  Made with authentic Shea and Cocoa butters, Live Clean Baby Shea Cocoa Butter Shampoo & Wash gently cleanses baby’s sensitive skin all the while providing long lasting, deep moisture. Quinoa and Vanilla extract help lock in moisture. Like all Live Clean products, it’s plant derived and eco-friendly. Hard working but oh so gentle, Live Clean Baby Gentle Moisture Tearless Shampoo & Wash is baby’s perfect daily shampoo  and wash and perfect for bathing baby as well!  Our clinically tested, tear-free formula cleanses without drying, leaving baby’s skin and hair feeling soft.  Made with purified water and enriched with certified organic botanicals of Chamomile, Lavender and Aloe, our unique formula rinses easily with a gentle scent that soothes baby and smells…heavenly. The other thing I really love about these baby products is you can get them in the larger 750 ml sizes. I find most baby care products come in smaller bottles so you have to buy them more often. The larger bottles means less waste!
